Assam Rifles battalions extend medical help in villages, organise lecture

Kohima, March 10 (MExN): Chieswema battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted a lecture on ‘how to join Indian Army/Assam Rifles’ for the students of Government Middle School, Sendenyu village, Government Higher Secondary School and Christian High School of Botsa village under Kohima district on March 10, according to a press release from HQ IGAR (N). The lecture was organized to create awareness among the students about Indian Army/Assam Rifles and eligibility criteria to join the force, the release further stated. Attended by a total of 162 students and 16 teaching staff, the lecture informed students about various types of entry schemes, pay, emoluments and training aspects.   Meanwhile, 40 Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp at Angphang village in Mon district on March 10. Organised with an aim to provide free medical assistance to the villagers of remotely located Angphang and nearby villages, Assam Rifles informed in another press note that a total of 360 patients – 114 men, 147 women, and 99 children – were examined and provided free medicines. Apart from the medical check-up, basic knowledge on epidemic diseases, including precautions, was also imparted, the press note said.   In Zunheboto district, 5 Assam Rifles organised a free medical camp at Old Natha village on March 9.   In another event, Medziphema battalion officer inaugurated the Annual Sports Meet-2018 of SFS Higher Secondary School, Medziphema on March 7. Commandant of 41 Assam Rifles during the ceremony emphasized on the importance of education and sports for a successful career of the students, the HQ IGAR informed. The event comprising of various cultural events, school band and drill displays was attended by 1600 students from pre-primary to class X, it said, adding the Medziphema battalion of Assam Rifles also extended medical assistances and care to the students during the three-day annual sports meet.
