Assam Rifles conducts educational, recreational events

Jalukie, April 6 (MExN): The Assam Rifles organized a series of educational and recreational activities in Jalukie on April 3.  

The day started with a ‘Run for Health’ in the morning to raise awareness on the benefits of physical fitness. It was followed by a ‘Medical Camp’ which was jointly organized by the AR and Public Health Centre, Athibung, wherein 158 patients were examined. HIV and Malaria test were also conducted for 74 people at the camp.  

A lecture cum discussion was also organized on AIDS and Blood Safety by Ngauzeulungbe District Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre Supervisor (DIS), Peren.  

Alongside the educational event, recreational events like military band display, friendly volleyball match and games for children of various age groups were also organized.  

Seizing on the opportunity, villagers from neighbouring villages established stalls for food, handloom and handicraft products.  

In addition, the Veterinary College students led by their professors conducted a House to House service in coordination with the AR at Athibung town, Inbung, Songhluh and Old Chalkot villages wherein domestic animals were provided free medical checkup.
