Assam Rifles creates awareness on ‘Government Schemes’

Kohima, December 3 (MExN): The Assam Rifles has been conducting lectures in different parts of the state in a bid to raise awareness on the different Central and State Government schemes for villages.   The 9 AR conducted a lecture at Chakabama on November 27 with the aim to inform the local populace about the various facilities being provided by government to poor people under Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) – an undertaking of the Ministry of Rural Development.   The IAY scheme fulfills housing needs of the poor rural people living below the poverty line. The procedure to apply for the scheme was also briefed to the locals to reap maximum benefits from it.   The 22 AR also conducted a lecture on “Government Schemes” at Pokhungri for locals of Avangkhu village in Phek District on November 29. A total of 18 locals attended the lecture and were made aware of the various schemes of Central and State Government like Digital India, Central Government Health Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana etc.   A similar lecture was also conducted at Lempong Sheangah on November 26 by the 4 Kumaon. Various Government welfare schemes being undertaken in Nagaland were highlighted to the 114 villagers in attendance.   Free Health camp in Zunebhoto   The 5 Assam Rifles organised a free health check-up for Sunday school children at Khuwaboto Colony, Zunheboto on November 26. The camp conducted by Capt Abhishek Sharma, Medical officer and Para Medical Staff of 5 Assam Rifles, administered health checkup to 79 children of Khuwaboto Colony and nearby areas.   Hunters’ conclave The 15 Assam Rifles organised a hunters conclave at C' Saddle on November 21 during which important aspects like improper handling of firearms and unfavorable incidents related to this were discussed.   The 25 villagers who attended the conclave were made aware that, hunting parties should inform the nearest Company Operating Base before moving out and also confirm the same on arrival, to safeguard themselves from any mishaps.   During the meeting awareness about wildlife conservation was also discussed. The villagers were educated about, endangered species in the state which should be protected and emphasis was laid upon responsibility towards wildlife conservation, an AR release stated.
