Dimapur, December 15 (MExN): The ATMA Bhandari Block conducted several programs including inauguration of Farm School, Mobilization Farmers group and several other trainings.
The inauguration of Arecanut farm school was held at Bhandari Town at the progressive farmer’s field of Nzio Lotha on December 5.
In the programme, the chairperson Chumbeni Odyuo, SDO (Sc) cum BTT Convener, ATMA Bhandari Block delivered a welcome speech and shared on the concept of farm school
Phyobeni Mozhui ATM, ATMA Bhandari Block imparted training on combating diseases of arecanut while Thungchobeni Ezung ATM; ATMA Bhandari Block demonstrated bordeaux mixture for disease control.
Nzio Lotha, Farmers Friend ATMA, Bhandari Block and farm school teacher shared about the selection of good arecanut seedlings and its cultivation. Besides, other participant dwelled on the importance of cultivating of different varieties of areca nut. Lack of regulated and proper marketing channel was also highlighted by another participant.
The program ended with a remark from the chairperson who encouraged the participants to take up arecanut on commercial scale as the climatic condition is very suitable for its cultivation. Altogether 18 persons cultivating areca nut attended the same.

On December 6 training cum demonstration was conducted at Bhandari village by ATMA Bhandari Block and sponsored by ATMA, Wokha.
Training on package and practices of areca nut was delivered by Phyobeni Mozhui. Demonstration on radish Cultivation was delivered by Tracy Mozhui, ATM Bhandari Block. Demonstration on Bordeaux mixture was carried out by Thungchobeni Kikon ATM Bhandari, the programme was chaired by Chumbeni Odyuo, SDO (Sc) cum BTT Convener, ATMA Bhandari Block. Altogether 19 persons attended the programme.
Mobilization of Farmers Group was held on December 7 at the office of SDO (Sc), Bhandari Town, by ATMA Bhandari Block and sponsored by ATMA, Wokha.
The program was chaired by Chumbeni Odyuo, SDO (Sc) cum BTT Convener, ATMA Bhandari Block. The resource person, Chumbeni Odyuo, delivered on the concept and importance of SHGs, Farmer Interest Group, Woman Groups, Commodity organization etc. Altogether 12 persons representing two SHGs attended the programme, press release form ATMA Bhandari informed.
