ATMA Dhansiripar block conducts field visit & demo

Dimapur, May 10 (MExN): Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Dhansiripar block, Dimapur conducted ‘joint field visit to vegetable farm’ and demonstration programme on May 8 at Khriezephe and Urra village respectively.   The field visit to vegetable farm was conducted with a motive to increase the awareness of farmers and agriculture extension workers on improved technologies for sustainable farming, according to a press release.  

Resource person, Dr. Waluniba, Scientist, AICRP (VC), NU SASRD highlighted on organic farming gaining importance among farming community. Informing that the scope of vegetable farming in Nagaland is increasing, he advised the farmers to adopt proper package of practices of vegetable crops with the help of extension functionaries and to be aware of the pest and disease prevalence in the field, the release added.  

Meanwhile, demonstration on ‘ginger rhizome seed treatment with Trichoderma’ and distribution of ginger rhizome and maize seeds to the members was also carried out for the Food Security Group. Moainla, Block Technology Manager (BTM) was the resource person of the programme attended by 12 women farmers.
