ATMA Kiphire conducts various activities 

Kiphire, August 24 (MExN): ATMA Kiphire, Khonsa Block conducted training cum demonstration and other activities.


The programme was conducted and chaired by Takutoshi Jamir, ATM of Khonsa block along with ATM Merennungba Imchen in Kiuro Village, Khonsa Village and Tsurevons Village on August 20 and 21 which were attended by 48 farmers. The training was conducted on Integrated Pest Management, Post harvest on Maize and demonstration on Kidney beans (Kholar) farming. 


The resource persons highlighted some farming guide for kidney beans (Kholar) climate: where rainfall is 60 to 150mm annually, Soil condition: it can be grown on wide range of soils from light sandy to heavy clay soils but where there is no water logging at pH 5.5 to 6, Seed Treatment: treating seeds with Thiram@4gm per Kg of seeds, Post harvest: beans needs care during storage at 12 -14% moisture content. Before storing, do sorting and remove damaged, infected beans. Heat and humidity cause deterioration in quality so always stored beans in cool, dark and dry place. 


One farm school teacher was selected in Tsurevons village as well as mobilization of farmers was done in five villages.
