ATMA Peren conducts exposure tour

Peren, August 8 (MExN): Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Peren district conducted a ‘Within State Farmers Exposure Tour’ from August 1 to 4 at State Agriculture Research Station (SARS) under Mokokchung District.  

During the tour, a technical session was taken by Temsu Farm Manager (SARS). He emphasized on cultivation practices of winter vegetables and briefed the farmers on the subjects of pests and disease management of various crops.  

Farmers from Peren District also got the opportunity to experience the Tsüngremmong Festival i.e. Mini-Hornbill and visited various stalls set up by farmers group, NGOs and other agri. & allied business establishment. The entire tour was led by 2 Deputy PDs of ATMA Peren district.  

Inter District Training

ATMA Peren District organised an Inter District Training on Value Addition of Pineapple at KVK, Yisemyong village under Mokokchung District on August 3.  

This was done with the objectives of creating a home based processing business for farmers to further add value to their production and also to prevent post harvest losses.  

Moianla, Programme Assistant KVK conducted the technical session during which she explicated the methods for processing of pineapple juice and pineapple jam followed by an elaborate demonstration of the steps required for making of the pineapple juice and pineapple jam. Information on food safety and standards were also disseminated to prevent health hazards and deterioration on food items.  

Review of the farmers who attended the training indicated a positive result as they were motivated to take up home scale production and were enlightened on the prospects of processed products.
