Peren, December 1 (MExN): Ahthibung block under ATMA Peren conducted Training and Demonstration on ‘Oyster Mushroom cultivation’ and Demonstration on ‘Preparation of King chilly pickle’ at Panjang village on November 16. Resource Persons were Lireni Lotha, ATM and Keneingunuo Sorhie, ATM of Ahthibung block.
A press release from ATMA Ahthibung block stated that Lireni trained the farmers on Oyster mushroom cultivation. A brief introduction on oyster mushroom cultivation and its nutritive benefits was given by Lireni. She encouraged the farmers to make use of paddy straw as substrate for mushroom cultivation, instead of burning it as waste which will have harmful impact on the environment.
Another demonstration on preparation of king chilly pickle was initiated by Keneingunuo Sorhie. She illustrated the methodology concerning value addition of king Chilly, and said that king chilly is a rich source of Vitamin C.
The resource persons also highlighted the benefits of mushroom cultivation and value addition of king chilly, as an income and employment generating crop and further urged the farmers to form SHGs and to take up mushroom cultivation seriously.
Altogether 21 farmers attended the programme. After the training mushroom spawns, poly bags, spices for pickle and packaging materials were distributed.
