Food Security Group ‘Kesamtei’ members seen with ATMA official in Old Tesen Village on July 5.
Peren, July 11 (MExN): The Tening block of Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Peren district conducted various activities from July 2 to 5.
Training and demonstration on System of Rice Intensification (SRI) as well as inauguration of SRI Farm School was held in Old Tesen village on July 2. Chaired by Pezavitso Haralu (ATM, Tening), the training was delivered by Woshanthung Jamio (ATM, Tening). The demonstration was done by Dr. Zeileigai Ndang (BTT Convenor and SDAO Tening). Idacu, the Farm School teacher shared his experiences and mentioned that his production has been raised by 50% more, according to a press release. A total of 32 SRI farmers attended the programme.
On July 3, Kisan Ghostis was conducted at Old Tesen with attendance of three Self Help Groups (SHGs) promoted by ATMA Tening block. Various farm products, woven products, semi processed products etc. were displayed and sold during the programme, the release said.
Meanwhile, a Fishery Farm School was inaugurated in Nchangram village followed by training and demonstration on fish pond management at the residence of Agum, the Fishery Farm School teacher on July 4. The programme was chaired by Dr. Imti Walling (BTM, Tening), while the training was delivered by Temjensoba (Farm Demonstrator, Fishery Department, Peren). Agum shared his experiences stating that fish farming has increased his income and savings. 25 fish farmers attended the programme.
A Food Security Group named Kesamtei was also established in Old Tesen Village on July 5. The group members are all women.
