August Rush: A celebration of Arts

The second edition of the Richa’s Production ‘AUGUST RUSH’ will showcase an open exhibition of art, craft, books, local food, acoustic sessions, music video releases and photography on August 15, 10 am at The Heritage, Old DC Bungalow, Kohima.  

Aiming to mobilize positive opinion among government policymakers in Nagaland to recognize the potential forms of art in Nagaland, August Rush will witness a musical ensemble by Musicians Studio Kohima at 12noon inside the curtains of the Orchestra venue, followed by a music Video release of four musicians managed by the Production namely Gigi Ale, Kekhrie Ringa, Tutu Terhuja and NTdote. The releases will be their first original debut.  

Holding a press conference at Dream Café, Kohima on August 11, the organizing team mentioned that the event is being held to support and promote art based cultures in Nagaland such as traditional handicraft materials, homemade Naga cuisines, Naga musicians, the growing film industry, photography and painting exhibition. The organisers also informed the premier of the movie (with subtitle) "Nana - A tale of us” by Dreamz Unlimited will also be held. Special guests at the event are Rebecca Changkija, a well known Bollywood movie director based in Mumbai and the team of Dreamz Unlimited. The Musical Ensemble and the Music video premier will be hosted by Mengu Suokhrie while the official photographer is Hopong Chang.  

August Rush will also be allotting time for the Naga Blog members to host their Clean Election Cell campaign. A total of 30 stalls have already been registered for the event, however the organizers also informed that there are more slots available in the venue if required.  

Initiated just last year, August Rush event aims to promote the young musicians and artists in Nagaland as well as build better networking among them. August Rush 2016 converged a number of Musicians, artists, entertainers and fashion designers together in one place, according to the organizers which had a total turn out of around 300 people. “This year we are expecting even more,” said the organizers.  

The main entry for the event is slated at Rs 50 only.  

The event is headed by Setolü Veswuh, with Alebou as the Event Manager, Dr. Teputo Richa as managing director, Medo Kense and Vil Victor as event co-ordinator.
