Awadh-Assam Express derails

LUCKNOW, February 26 (AGENCIES): Several people were injured when three coaches of Delhi bound Awadh-Assam Express derailed near Mordabad on Saturday morning. While an inquiry has been ordered, the station master of Moradabad has been suspended.  According to reports, the accident happened soon after the train left Mordabad station. The speed was slow, hence derailment did not cause any major damage. The derailment occurred during changing of track by the train.
Several people travelling in the three coaches were injured in the accident. However, railway officials said that no serious injuries or casualties have taken place. Rescue team was also rushed to the spot soon after the accident.  Assistant divisional railways manager AK Sighal told reporters that accident could also have occurred due to a wrong signal. He said that an inquiry has been ordered and station master has been put under suspension.
The three coaches were separated from the train and it was allowed to proceed further. The passengers of the derailed coaches were adjusted in the other coaches of the train and some were allotted space in other trains.  The rail traffic was barred for several hours due to the derailment. However, now barring the track on which derailment occurred, other tracks on the route have been opened for the movement of other trains.
