Awareness created on child protection in Mon

Awareness programme on child protection for Village Child Protection Level Committee and Ward Level Child Protection Committee organized by District Child Protection Unit in collaboration with Child Welfare Committee, Mon District & Mon ADP, World Vision India was held on September 20 at DRDA Hall, Mon.  

Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, SDO Civil Mon addressing the gathering said that children are the future of our society and nation, “And that the future generation is in the hands, within our home which is the responsibility of every parent to secure the future by protecting the child.” In this regard, he said that parents and society need to be given awareness in child protecting.  

Samuel Kapu, DCPO Mon elaborated on the roles and responsibilities of VLCPC and WLCPC to join hands to work out together in securing the future of children since Child Abuse has been a daily story in districts including Mon.  

While speaking on the roles and responsibilities, he urged the committee not to comprise the case within the parents but bring it out to the higher committee since it holds the future of a victim. He said that when the case is compromised the feelings of a victim is not known and is not delivered justice as well. He also urged the parents to provide data of how many children are send as a domestic helper and also the address where they are kept so that together the parents and Child Protection committee at different levels can protect and secure the future of the child.  

Mannon Konyak, Advocate deliberated on child protection- issues and challenges in District. Through her topic, Mannon brought in to the parents and committee that the problems are due to early marriage, family alliance, lack of awareness and family planning. She adds that it is the duty of every parent to protect the child right from the womb. Therefore the child has every right to survive, live with dignity, health care And drinking water, education, relax and play, protection from violation, protection from physical abuse etc. It is the duty of the every parent to protect, rescue and rehabilitate the abuse.
