Awareness programme on dengue held

Dimapur, November 4 (MExN): The MSW students of North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR), Dimapur in collaboration with the Community Educational Centre Society (CECS) conducted an awareness programme on dengue with the people of Grace Colony at Old CECS campus, Kuda C here.  

Dr. Moa, Programme Officer of NVBDCP, who was the resource person, spoke on the symptoms of dengue, the preventive measures, and medical attention required.  

Dimapur, he said, recently is facing an epidemically high rate of dengue problem and that measures are being taken up by the colony to minimize dengue, informed a press release from NEISSR. He urged the people to clean their surroundings at least once a week.  

Dr. Moa also warned that anyone with symptoms like joint pains, typhoid like headache and fever etc should seek medical attention since dengue test is done for free in all the government hospitals. An amount of Rs 450 may be charged for card test only if the result turns out positive, he added.  

He further urged the people to keep their homes, kitchens, bathrooms and surroundings clean to avoid dengue. Altogether, 126 people from the colony attended the programme.
