AYO calls for 8am-3pm bandh on Feb 1

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 31 (MExN): The Angami Youth Organization (AYO) today called for a bandh on February 1 from 8am – 3pm in Kohima and Dimapur, with Chakhroma Youth Organization entrusted to coordinate with the Dimapur Naga Youth Front in Dimapur.  

A press note from the AYO condemned the “diabolical plan” of the state government to “fool Nagas with divide and rule policy.”  

“Keeping in mind the interest of the public residing in Angami areas of Kohima, the public are advised not Panic and take note of the exemptions and restrictions,” the AYO stated.  

Restrictions:

•    All government Offices will not be allowed to function

•    No government registered vehicles will be allowed to ply

•    Legislators including the chief minister and officials of any political party, including presidents/chairmen will not be allowed to appear in public or traverse during the bandh.

•    Nagaland Armed Police including the Indian Reserve Battalion will also not be allowed to move about during the bandh.  

Exceptions:

•    Businesses activity, trade and commerce, shops will not be affected

•    Media and banks exempted

•    Educational institutions and hospitals will function

•    Public movement will not be stopped, be it pedestrian or vehicular

•    District administration, Raj Bhavan, Police Headquarter, SP office, north and south police stations, Chiephobozou Police Station, Khuzama Police Station, Zubza Police Station, Phesama police station, Kezocha Police station, fire services, power department and para military forces exempted.
