BBBP District Task Force meeting held in Mon

Mon, August 18 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS held a meeting with the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) District Task Force on August 14 in the DC Office Conference Hall.

The meeting was attended by the Project Director DRDA, Chief Medical Officer, District Programme Officer ICDS, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Nodal Officer BBBP Mon, District Economics & Statistics Officer, ADEO and Konyak Students’ Union representative who all are members of the District Task Force.

The DC gave a comprehensive presentation on all the activities that had been taken up for the current year under BBBP. Clips of BBBP videos uploaded on various social media platforms were also screened for all the members.

A thorough deliberation was made on why the Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) was showing an alarming declining trend for the past three years. Faulty and incomplete data was attributed as one of the major causes. District Economics & Statistics Officer and Chief Medical Officer were asked to come up with measures to keep the data in check. Further, the District Task Force was briefed on the plan to collect birth data from churches for the past three years and cross verify the SRB data. It is common practice for parents to register their children in the local church and obtain a certificate a few days after birth.

Imliwabang Aier, NCS, Nodal Officer BBBP Mon informed the house about the activities that were planned for the next 3 months in the District HQ and all the sub divisions. Suggestions were invited from the members on possible activities that could be taken up.
