BCTE observes Fresher’s Day with a difference

Dimapur, August 23 (MExN): Bosco College of Teacher Education (BCTE), Dimapur celebrated its annual Fresher’s Day on August 23 but with a marked difference from past years.

This year’s observance included a farewell programme, stated a press release from Jonas Kerketta, BCTE Dimapur.

The farewell programme included a tearful send-off for Dr Thuruthel Jose (TC) SDB and R Kuotsu, the outgoing teacher.
Dr Jose’s meticulous planning and hard work during the last three years had not only lifted BCTE Dimapur to higher academic excellence but also formed the teacher-trainees into professional and dedicated molders of young minds, the release added.
The event also included the official welcome of the new BCTE Principal Dr Sabu Joseph SDB, and the BCTE Director (Rector) Fr Karippai Jose SDB.

The new teacher-trainees came up with varied answers to the question: Is Korenization of culture good for Nagaland? Those who responded affirmatively had the following reasons: all cultures, including the Korean culture, are good and can teach us many good values. The Koreans are honest, hardworking, disciplined, respectful towards their elders, clean, talented in music, sports, business, etc. Those who responded negatively said that our youth imitate the Koreans only externally, mainly copying their hair-style, dress, and other items related to fashionable life-style and not the inner values which make the Koreans so prosperous and their culture so enviable.

One teacher-trainee quoted George Washington saying, “We should not forget from where we come, where we are now and where we are going.”
