15 teachers from 11 districts today conferred with the prestigious State Teachers Award 2018 during the state level teachers’ day celebration here at NBCC Convention Centre.
The recipients carried a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 each along with citation.
Earlier, addressing the gathering as guest speaker, school education advisor K.T. Sukhalu said “To teach is to touch one’s life forever.”
He stated that education sector needs to keep pace with the fast changing world and the ever shifting demands, teachers need to update skills, need to reorient and change teaching method to inspire students to learn and perform well in their studies.
Emphasizing that teacher’s job is not to finish a text book but to help the student understand what is in the text book and why is it important to study. He added that the Teacher’s need to give context of the subjects to their students because the subject matter is the foundation on which students will build their world view and make their career and life choices.
He also appealed to the teachers not to shame the students who give wrong answers, instead appreciate their courage in answering out loud because education is successful when the students begins to question what he or she is taught.
He further appraised the teachers to be fair in their treatment of students, the issue of tribe, language, religion, race, food habits should never be a ground to treat students differentially because the things they see in the classroom will stay with them for life and will remember the example you have set.
