Longleng, October 8 (MExN): Longleng district will observe ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Week – The Daughters of New India’ from October 9–14 to create awareness and sensitise the community to promote empowerment of girls and reinforce gender equality. The weeklong programme will be celebrated by organising various activities, informed a press release from Y Denngan Avennoho Phom, Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, District Task Force (BBBP). Some of the highlights of the programme are: October 9 – Launching of BBBP Week (Chief guest - S Pangyu Phom, Adviser DUDA & NEPED); October 10 – Rally, Signature Campaign; October 11 – Celebration of International Girl Child Day; October 12 – Door to Door Campaign & Community Sensitization; October 13 – Seminar on Women Schemes and Programs and Special Legislation; October 14 – Felicitation, cultural activities, Voice of Girl Child, Prayer for Girl Child. All have been requested to be a part of the celebration.
