Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Thavaseelan K (IAS), launched India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) of Mon Branch on September 1 at DC Conference Hall.
Speaking on the launching programme as special guest, he appreciated the Postal department, Mon branch for successful launching of IPPB at Mon. He said that, IPPB will provide banking and financial service to people in the rural areas in the district. The postal department is serving dual proposed as postal service and banking service to the people. He also mentioned that this IPPB is almost similar to that of other normal banks and IPPB is owned by the Government of India.
Deputy Commissioner Mon also released special cover on financial inclusion and distributes qr card to the account holders.
P. Hangshing, Post Master, Mon who also spoke during the launching programme said that, India Post Payment Bank is a differentiated bank set up under the guidelines of RBI to further inclusion for the underserved population by providing current and saving account, payment or remittance service for low income household and small business.
This IPPB launching is a nationwide event and at this very moment 650 Branches and 3250 Access points are simultaneously being launched all over the country out of which 9 Branches and 36 Access Points are here in our state. IPPB is necessary for Financial Literacy, Financial Inclusion and Ease of accessibility, he added.
After the formal programme, watched National Launching Event presided over by the Prime Minister of India.
