As part of Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) Clean Election Campaign, the youth ministry of Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) today undertook a bikers rally from Mokokchung to Kohima.

Bikers from Wokha and Tseminyu also joined the rally midway. The rally witnessed 55 bikers riding with conviction to spread the message of clean election.

On arrival here this evening, the bikers were accorded a warm welcome at Old MLA Hostel Junction wherein Rev. Dr. Mar Atsongchanger, convenor of CEC- Core Committee, NBCC and Colo Mero, member CEC-CC, NBCC addressed the rally.

CEC not against any political party

Dr. Atsongchanger reiterated that clean election campaign is not against any political party nor is it in support of any political party.

He said CEC is a campaign not only to the politicians, not only to the voters but to every citizen of Nagaland, “Because we want to tell our children that Nagaland should be a better place.”

The campaign is a clarion call o the people, the politicians, voters and everyone. For voters, do not sell your vote. For politicians, don’t try to buy vote to get elected, he urged.

“If all the citizen of Nagaland chooses for a better Nagaland, clean election campaign is possible,” he said while adding, “We deserve better government. We deserve better leaders. We deserve better governance.”

Let us vote for development

Cole Mero in his address said CEC was started by the NBCC to encourage “Clean voters, Clean Candidates and Clean Governance.”

“In the recently concluded By-Election in Kohima, we are happy to note that hundreds and thousands of people followed Clean Election principles. Some voted for the first time without taking money or favours. Clean Election is a success for those individuals and families who have casted only their respective votes and did not sell the same,” he said.

He lamented that the scale of Naga honesty has come down to the level where people who take money or favours only from one candidate are considered honest and truthful in our present society.

Our forefathers were indeed honest and truthful but today we have fallen short of all these age old legacies, he said and urged the people to bring about positive change in our times.

“Together with the bikers, let us ride the talk, walk the talk and live the talk,” he said.
