The PDA government had promised that within a hundred days of its formation, all Government Directorates and Secretariat will be covered by Aadhaar enabled biometric attendance system.
Towards this, the cabinet meeting held on March 8 had resolved that an appropriate system will be devised for ensuring attendance in the District offices.
While there is no comprehensive data on whether this promise has been kept, several departments are yet to implement it and others have been using the system for a while now.
The departments of School Education, Power and Nagaland State Secretariat are some that have been using the biometric attendance since last year. The Industries & Commerce and Police Head Quarters started implementation of biometric attendance system from May and June onwards.
It was further informed that the PHED and the Department of Horticulture are set to begin using the system starting next month.
Two departments confirmed to not be using the system at present include the Directorate of Information and Public Relations and the Department of Printing and Stationary.
The State Vigilance Commission is also yet to implement the system. However it was informed that the groundwork has been laid.
