BJP pledges support to PDA

Rio elected as PDA leader

KOHIMA, MARCH 6 (MExN): The BJP, Nagaland unit has made official its support to the NDPP-BJP alliance christened the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA). As per a BJP press release, the party’s 12 legislators submitted a “support letter” in favour of the alliance to the Governor today in Kohima.  

Along with the “support letter,” the delegation submitted resignation letters of Ministers in the previous government - P. Paiwang Konyak and Imtilemba Sangtam. A copy of a letter declaring Patton as the BJP Legislature Party Leader was also submitted.  

The release said that the Central leaders expressed desire to meet church leaders but could not due to time constraint. “However, the Party was assured for such meeting in the near future.”  

Later in the evening, it informed that Neiphiu Rio was unanimously elected as the leader of the PDA at a joint meeting of the NDPP, BJP, JD(U) and the lone Independent. At the meeting chaired by Chingwang Konyak, Rio’s name was proposed by Y. Patton and seconded by G. Kaito, it added.  

The BJP reiterated its professed development agenda of corruption-free governance and performing as outlined in its catchphrase - ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ (Inclusive growth for all).
