An IED suspected to be planted by militants exploded at the gate of office cum residential quarters of Bharatiya Infra Project Limited in Imphal early Monday morning. No casualty was reported in the blast that partially damaged the iron gate of the office by the impact of the blast.

 

Police said the blast was triggered at office cum residential gate of Bharatiya Infra Project Limited at Langthabal Lep Awang Leikai under Singjamei police station of Imphal West district around 5 am.

 

The office cum residence is owned by Ningombam Ibochouba (49). The police suspect the blast was being triggered in connection with monetary demand from the company by a militant group.

 

To establish the motive behind the blast, police have initiated an investigation by lodging an FIR case under section 307,506 of IPC and Explosive Act at Singjamei police station.

 

This is the third bomb explosion in Imphal in recent times in Imphal.
