Blue Wave packed drinking water in Kohima

Nagaland State Dairy Cooperative Federation Limited Kohima inaugurated a packed drinking water plant called “Blue Wave” at Dairy Farm under the support of Nagaland Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department on November 30.  

The packed drinking water plant was formally inaugurated by MK Mero, Commissioner and Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, who is also the chairman of the Nagaland State Dairy Cooperative Federation Limited.  

Addressing the inaugural function, Mero said, the plant is capable of producing 1000 litres per hour packaged drinking water for marketing in the form of 500 ml pet bottle and 20 litres Jars.   He also said the NSDCF is planning to produce 1litre and 300 ml per bottle water for the coming years.  

He also told that the NSDCF Limited has approved by the Bureau of Indian standard since last December.  

Mero said that setting up of water plant was initiated since September 2012 with 11 Board of Directors under the chairmanship of Tawang Konyak, in order to have a subsidiary unit for sustainable income along with the Dairy products.  

He added that accordingly, the one building for housing the plant was constructed and related machinery equipments were installed by incurring an expenditure of Rs. 68.12 lakhs.  

He also told that Nagaland State Cooperative Federation Limited so far mobilized the required fund from its own source of income.  

All the lay out planning, construction and installation works were carried out sourcing consultancy services from M/S Bestech water Treatment private limited Ahmadabad, Gujarat India.  

He further stated that the objective of setting up the packaged drinking water plant is to ensure the availability of portable water for the Capital Dairy Plant and generate Substantial revenue by utilizing the additional treated water for sales as packaged drinking water.  

Dr. Viral Yore Additional director of AH & Vety Services said that according to Director General of Bureau of Indian standard during the last September visit at the plant site at Lerie Kohima he stated that Blue Wave is one of the best water in the entire North east.  

Dr. Yore also further stated that the Blue Wave has large demand in the market and wishes that it will be progressive and became the backbone of the state economy.
