CAPF celebrates Tsungkam Neo in Chessore

Chessore, January 17 (MExN): The Chessore Area Public Forum (CAPF) celebrated Tsungkam Neo (Winter Festival) under the theme ‘Preserving and expounding the culture’ in Chessore.  

Around 2500 delegates from all the Chessore area villages as well the Sumi neighbouring villages attended the festival, informed a press release.  

Francis Yimso, Principal, Saint Xavier College, Jalukie was the chief guest and Hutishe Sema, Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SKK) general secretary was the special guest.  

The chief guest stressed on the importance of culture and knowing what culture is. Francis further urged to examine its pros and cons and to uphold ethics for the society to prosper.  

Meanwhile, the special guest acknowledged the courtesy extended to SKK and stressed on renewing the ancestral relationship between the Yimchungers and Sumis.  

A message on significance of the day from ENPO Advisor Toshi Wungtung was read out by Kiumukam, CAPF general secretary.  

The Yimchunger Akherü Arihako (YAA) president, Yansomong and Yimchunger Tribal Council (YTC) general secretary, Tsuyibah expressed gratitude to the chief guest and SKK officials for their presence and the act of oneness.  

Chessore Village cultural troupe presented a short play on the significance of Tsungkam Neo.
