Vanguard FC today registered victory over Ninezone Peren 5-0 in the inaugural match of the 4th edition of Capt. N. Kenguruse Memorial Football Tournament (State Level) here at Kohima Local Ground.
Playing an 80 minute game, Rhitsho Mero scored the first goal for Vanguard FC in the 6th minute. The second and third goal for Vanguard FC came through the boot of Yhanshalo Kemp in the 21st and 26th minute.
Further, Vekhruto Resu and Nyithong Magh netted a goal each in the 46th and 58st minute to ink the winning margin of Vanguard FC 5-0 against the opponent 5-0 at the final whistle.
Maj Gen P.C Nair,YSM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) formally declared the tournament open, which will go on till September 22.
The champion will fetch a cash prize of Rs. 1.70 lakh while the runner- up will receive Rs. 80,000.
There will also be individual prizes for most valuable player, golden boot and best custodian.
