CASE Premier League: Natak FC extend lead after match day 10

Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): The CASE Premier League Season 4 resumed on February 16 after its winter hiatus, and it did not fail to deliver as a shower of goals was witnessed in all four matches of Matchday 10.


Super Strikers and Trinity Sporting opened the match day at Ground A (1st NAP) with Super Strikers winning the toss and chose the side. Bottom placed Super Strikers’ attempts to salvage some points from this outing was futile as goals from Vizo and Vayu did not hold ground against a resilient Trinity Sporting. Gigin’s hattrick ensured a deserving win for Trinity as they moved to second.


In the next match, a sensational Natak FC romped home to an eighth victory on the trot producing an outstanding display of team football in the second half against Ruboo United trouncing them 5 – 0, thanks to a Pokhotso hattrick and a goal apiece from Hanyo and Chingme.


In another closely-fought match at the DGP Ground, Case FC gained the upper hand over Sporting Union to earn their first win after the winter break.


The tables turned in Case’s favour when as early as the eighth minute, the bustling Jamong scored from inside the box after the Sporting defenders failed to clear a rebound from a free kick.


It was an unproductive evening for Sporting as Case maintained a tenacious midfield play as well. A cross from the right found Temjen in the box, but with poor execution, the ball went straight to the goalkeeper. The relief for Sporting was, however, short-lived as the goalkeeper failed to collect the ball and Temjen redeemed his first touch with a flick that finally hit home.


For Nizams FC, it was a superb return from the winter break as Angam’s goal coupled with Themreiso’s double helped their side snatch 3 points against Joga Bonito and go on level terms with Sporting Union in third place.


Nizams midfielder Angam put the red and blacks forward just before the half hour mark: a perfect pass from Akato found Angam in the goal area who exhibited his scoring prowess without faltering.


However, in a span of six minutes, Joga’s lone striker Dr.Lipok pumped in the. As the second half resumed, Themreiso with an exquisite solo run with the ball that saw him dribble past defenders and unleashed a curling shot past the keeper to put the ball in the Joga net. A minute later, Dr.Lipok would go on to score another for his side, he controlled the ball and drilled past Nizams’ goalie Temsumeren to complete his second goal.


With the match nearing completion, both teams went all out to settle the tie. A wonderful move from Nizams’ Ravi saw him break away on the right and delivered a cross as Themreiso swooped in with a right-footed jab to beat the goalie on the near post sealing the game 3 – 2 at full time.
