Trinity maintains winning momentum

  DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 21 (MExN): Trinity Sporting maintained their consistency edging passed STAFAC United 5-2 in the first game of the day in the ongoing Case Premier league. STAFAC United dominated throughout the match but was not able to convert their forays into the area missing a number of good chances.   Trinity was more calculated in approach, the strategy paying off. Yanger of Trinity Sporting scored the first goal in the 16th Minute and later Atokito increased the tally through a penalty in the 20th minute of the match. STAFAC United’s repeated attack paid off and in the 40th minute, Tichuilung scored to bring back the team into the game. After the break, Keneivikho scored the equalizer through a header. Only for Trinity to make a comeback in the 58th Minute through a wonderful assist from Riju to let Atokito score and maintain the lead.   STAFAC United continued to miss some few sitters with three in particular hitting the wood work. Trinity Sporting was able to able to capitalize on STAFAC’s missed opportunities converting the chances that came their way. The 4th and 5th goal for Trinity came in quick succession Lipok and Meyi scoring in the 72nd and 73rd.     Case FC beats G Sporting Case FC and G sporting went into the match separated by just 2 points in the league table. Needing a win to maintain pressure on the league leaders and rain battering the field, both teams coped well with the conditions.   It was G-sporting that controlled the initial 10 minutes of the match. As the match progressed Case FC were seeing more of the ball and midway through the first half they struck first with a header from striker Mhonyamo. Mhonyamo was quick to react to a long range effort from Visalie, which rebounded off the crossbar.   The second half saw G-sporting pressing for the equaliser with numerous long range passes. It was one of those long passes that skidded off the surface to strike a Case FC defender on the arm and the referee awarded a penalty. Lanu of G Sporting converted the spot kick, sending the keeper the wrong way.   The game was evenly poised but Case FC persisted and scored in the last quarter of the game via a free kick from Moatemjen, who had initially given away the penalty. Case FC hung on to a well-deserved win.     Khobu brace helps Nizams win Nizams FC won against Team Powerplay 2-1. A brace from striker Khobu helped Nizams FC to break their losing streak. Khobu opened the scoring through an assist by Kantu in the 6th minute. Both teams continued to attack but Khobu their tally through a fine assist from Nchum in the 26th minute.   Nizams keeper Temsumeren made some stunning saves in the second half to deny Powerplay any semblance of chance.   Powerplay were though fortunate to narrow the score line in the dying minutes through an own goal. Wangyam’s shot was deflected by a Nizams FC defender and into the net.
