Celebrating Excellence- Totsiens Scholastic Day

The annual celebration of Tetso College Scholastic Day 2017 was held here at the Tetso Arena, Amphitheatre on January 23 with PB Acharya, Governor of Nagaland as the chief guest.   

PB Acharya reiterated on the importance and need for skilled education which can equip the young generation with the readiness and quality of being employable, imparting consciousness of duty among youths, mobilizing the hands for work. While lamenting that we are knowledgeable, our knowledge is not employable. Competitiveness, professionalism and entrepreneurship can bring the society to progress. “Make the state a golden Nagaland, work for yourself and give job to others,” he said urging achievers and the haves the essence of sharing intellect and assets.  

The occasion witnessed the launch of the e-book ‘Exousia’, a collective creation of poems, short stories, art and photography of the students and faculty and the launch of the 5th volume of the Tetso Interdisciplinary Journal, a collective research copy of various scholars from reputed institutions in the country by the governor. Prestigious awards to the student of the year, employee of the year, the student council body and the college student reporters were handed out.  

Kvulo Lorin, Director- Administration, Tetso College pronounced the welcome address and valedictory speech was delivered by Ms PS Reishangnim, student of the year. The programme was hosted by Mughato Aye.  

Other highlights of the programme included special presentation by Tetso choir, musical piece by Mountain Music Academy and Nagaland Chamber Choir presented ‘My Song’. The event is annually celebrated to honour excellence and achievements of the staff and students and honour final year students. Totsiens is a South African term, ‘Till we meet again.’  

Meanwhile, Tetso College Director-Administration Kvulo Lorin informed that the Acharya announced a scholarship, Governors award in the name of Dr. T. Ao of Rs. 50000 for Tetso students, the details of which would be worked out.
