Census 2011 commences in Nagaland

Dimapur, February 9 (MExN): The second and final phase of census 2011 began Wednesday across Nagaland. State Chief Minster Neiphiu Rio was enumerated in the presences of Census Director Hekali Zhimomi and other census officials at his residential office at Kohima. The head count in almost all the districts of the state started with the enumeration of deputy commissioners and other important personalities and family members. The second phase of census called the population enumeration will be conducted simultaneously all over India from February 9 to 28. Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Lalthara has also notified that the state government has declared that the census of the population of Nagaland shall be taken from February 9 to 28 with a revision round from March 4 and 5 and the reference date as 0 hrs of the first day of March 2011.

Dimapur:
The phase II of Census 2011 commenced today. Enumeration of census kick started in Dimapur at the residence of Maongwati Aier, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur in presence of Nikhashe Sema, CEO DMC who is also Census Charge Officer, Dimapur and other officials of Census in Dimapur. Nikhashe Sema has appealed to all the GBs and chairmen of colonies and villages in Dimapur to assist the census supervisors and enumerators to record accurate and informative data from the public. While appreciating the supervisors and enumerators for their efficiency in the phase I of the census, Nikhashe appealed to them to sincerely perform their assignment.      

Tuensang: In Tuensang the programme was launched by Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang Y.L. Jami IAS. The programme was held in the official designated residence compound of DC, Tuensang with all the nodal officer, in-charge officers, supervisors and enumerators, monitoring officers and community based monitors. Jami in his speech requested all the officials to be truthful, sincere, concern and devoted on their part where one is assigned and also assured the officials that the Office of Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang is always ready and open for consultation for any kind of problems if faced by the officials. The programme was chaired by EAC Hq Tuensang, Mhomo who also welcome all the officials while delivering the introductory speech and thanked each and every members for attending the programme. Nodal officer, Athisü briefed the Officials on do’s and don’ts of technical ground.

Mokokchung: The second phase of Census of India 2011, population enumeration where each person is to be enumerated and her/his individual particulars are to be collected at a well-defined point of time has begun today the 9th February 2011 in Mokokchung district with the rest of the country. The gigantic population enumeration exercise has begun with DC Mokokchung, Lithrongla G. Chishi as the first person in the district to be enumerated by the enumerators in presence of Census Nodal Officers, Vidya V.K and Manashi Hazarika at 8 am at her official residence.

Zunheboto: The Phase II of the population census begins in Zunheboto district on February 9. DC Zunheboto, T. Kiheto Sema appealed to all the citizens to cooperate with the officials and supervisors in all the matters to give correct census of the district.

Phek: Community monitoring for census operation held a meeting with the village functionaries and NGOs of Phek district on February 9 at the District Planning Development Board Hall. The meeting was chaired by DC Phek, Mikha Lomi.
Naga Mother Association President Abei-u Mero; Communitoring Monitoring Member, Sapralu; Phek GB Union President, M. Rose and Nodel Officer, Noksang Imchen spoke on the occasion. They called for cooperation from the section of people as it is for future Planning and development. They further appealed to the people to give accurate information and support the authorities. Representatives from Chakhesang Public Organisation, Pochury Public Forum, Chakhesang students Union, VCCs members, VDB Secretaries and GBs of Phek district attended the meeting. The second Phase of Census enumeration will continue till 28th February 2010 and revision will start from 1st to 5th March 2010. The enumerators have enumerated the district VVIPs and the VIP and other personalities on the first day of the Census Operation.
