CEO Nagaland holds state level meeting

Kohima, August 14 (MExN): The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nagaland conducted a state level meeting with political parties from Nagaland with regard to Electors Verification Programme (EVP) and Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls at Hotel Japfü, Kohima on August 14. 


The main objectives of the EVP are to verify elector’s details and indicate correction in details, to obtain details of family members and verifying their entries, to provide better Electoral Services and to improve health of electoral Roll, stated a DIPR report. 


CEO Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha discussed at length with the members and officials of various political parties from Nagaland on the electoral roll and how its implementation can be improved through EVP. The political parties also brought forth to the notice of the CEO numerous burning issues related to the electoral rolls and the misuse of it during elections.


The political parties present further acknowledged the initiative of the Election Commission of India in making the electoral process more accessible to the public and hoped that the EVP would help in rooting out the problem of malpractices during elections.
