Jakhama, October 16 (DIPR): Chief Election Officer, Nagaland, Sanjay Kumar today called on students to enroll their names in the electoral roll, while stating that students are the future of the State and country. Kumar was addressing the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme held at St. Joseph College, Jakhama, where more than three thousand students took part.
Pointing out that enrolment of names more that once is illegal, the CEO said in Nagaland, there are many bogus/ multiple entries of names in the electoral roll which needs to be corrected. He also said that one should know who the District Election Officer (DEO), Assistant Election Officer (AEO) or Election Registration Officer appointed in the district are.
He also mentioned that SVEEP campaign is a mega programme launched by the Election Commission of India. He urged the students to spread that message of Clean Electoral Roll so that the right persons can enroll his/her name in the electoral roll. Every elector should have their EPIC Card, Sanjay Kumar said, and read out the pledge on clean election.
The programme was chaired by Joint CEO, N. Moa Aier, welcome speech and invocation by Fr. Anthony, Vice Principal, St. Joseph College. Short speeches were given by Managing Director, People Channel, Rozelle Mero, Miss Nagaland 2015 and State Icon, Veineiem Singsong, SDO (C) and AERO Jakhama, Athsangla. Vote of thanks was tendered by Dy. Chief Election Officer Vekho Vero.
