Chakhesang churches pledges for a clean election

Chizami, March 25 (MExN): The Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) during its pastors’ fellowship held at Chizami Baptist Church from March 21-23 deliberated on Clean Election Campaign supporting NBCC’s action for free and fair election.  

In support to the decision taken jointly in a consultative meeting held on March 16 last at CBCC conference hall by the apex body Chakhesang Public Organization and its frontal organizations – Chakhesang Mothers’ Association, Chakhesang Youth Front, Chakhesang Students’ Union, GBs Federation and Church denominations to support Clean Election process being spearheaded by NBCC and CBCC, all the pastors and delegates signed the Clean Election Pledge Cards as a sign to keep themselves clean and faithful and they will start disseminating these information to all the churches and villages with much prayers and sincerity.  

Rev. Vikuo Rhi, Youth Secretary of NBCC was the resource person of the programme which was attended by around 200 pastors and Associate pastors from all 99 churches under CBCC.  

The resource person gave a clear and lengthy lecture on the importance of Clean Election in Nagaland. He urged all the participants to play a vital role to inculcate Christian values by telling the truth and doing the right thing. He went on to say some of the important things to take note by all the voters are like, not to tamper the date of birth or vote until 18 years of age, ‘NO’ to proxy voting, booth capturing, not to sell one’s vote or buy, not to indulge in substance abuse, supply and use of liquor, feasting, sexual immoralities, false propaganda, but be truthful and to remain as moral watch dogs and upholding democratic spirit.  

He also lamented that it is a great shame for Nagas who are the believers of Christ to have been known as people involved in all forms of corruption. He challenged the gathering to set examples and become trailblazers in the days ahead of us. The Pastors’ fellowship has also decided to conduct seminars in phase manner in all areas and villages.
