Chetheba citizens appeal power dept to replace transformer

DIMAPUR, MARCH 6 (MExN): The Chetheba town citizens under Phek district are once again reeling under darkness with the damage of the 33 KV power transformer for the fourth time in a span of ten month.

Besides the unprecedented loss in business and hardship to the citizens, the most affected by the power outages are the students preparing for the HSLC exam.

Vice chairman of Chetheba Town, Mezahu Medeo, in a press release said despite appeal for the damaged transformer to be replaced, the concerned department was yet to take any remedial measures.

It stated that the department had promised to replace the worn-out transformer with a new one but that promise is yet to reach the town till date. The transformer was last repaired and re-installed on November 17, which however was short-lived as the electrical device was again damaged on February 26.

In addition to the hardship, the citizens of the town are compelled to share the repairing expenses, the press release stated.

The Chetheba town citizens, have therefore appealed the state government and the concerned department to take remedial measures at the earliest in order to mitigate the power crisis prevailing in the town.
