Chief Minister offers condolences

Kohima, June 16 (MExN): Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio today expressed pain over the death of Kevimedo Rutsa, former Vice President, Angami Public Organization (APO) and former Chairman, Kohima Village Council in Kohima on June 15 at the age of 90.  

Rio in a condolence message informed that late Kevimedo Rutsa, whom he addressed as “uncle”, was a Rüna Peyu in the NNC during the 1950s and was imprisoned for the Naga cause. He also served as Area Council Member of the Northern Angami and later as the Vice President of the APO. He was the Chairman of Kohima Village Council for over a decade and a life member of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Nagaland, he added.

  “I had the privilege of working closely with him when I was the Chairman of the Northern Angami Area Council while he was a member representing Kohima Village. I found him to be an upright and dedicated leader, always concerned for the welfare of the people,” Rio recollected.  

“Besides his noteworthy social activities, he was a good friend of my late father and thereby a fatherly-figure to me and my family and I have always held him in high esteem. He was a blessing to all of us and we will miss him greatly,” he added.  

The CM along with his family extended condolences to all members of the bereaved family and expressed regret for his inability to attend the funeral rites as he is out of the State.
