Child Protection Services distribute Cradles

Dimapur, December 18 (MExN): The Child Protection Services Nagaland, Department of Social Welfare distributed Cradles (Cradle of Hope) to the Office of Commissioner of Police and Chief Medical Officer Dimapur on December 18.

These Cradles will be placed at various Police Stations, Primary Heath Centers, Community Health Centers and Hospitals under Dimapur District, informed a press release issued by Raitale Zeliang, Programme Manager, State Child Protection Society.

Cradle of Hope aims to provide a viable option to newborn abandoned/unwanted babies, and also give the mother to make responsible decision, a decision that may save a live, it stated.

Mention may be made here that on November 19, Noke Wangnao, Advisor, Department of Social Welfare launched the Cradle of Hope during Child Rights Week 2018. Cradle of Hope was launched in Dimapur district as a pilot project under Innovative Intervention Programme, under Child Protection Services scheme. Around 90 Cradles will be placed at strategic key points in and around Dimapur to ensure that no babies are dumped in dustbins, jungles etc.
