"We want to survive in tobacco free society. We want to live in tobacco free house. We want to study in tobacco free school. We want to travel in tobacco free transportation," conveyed school children during the observance of World No Tobacco Day here today organized by Health & Family Welfare Department.

Sharing "Voice of children," Kessica from Dainty Buds School, Kohima questioned why government cannot ban all tobacco products in Nagaland and protect children from destruction. She also questioned why the government cannot enforce total and permanent ban of tobacco products during all festive and social gatherings. She further asked why parents are not telling the truth and continuing tobacco habit. She also made a plea to make Nagaland a tobacco free state.

In Nagaland, 69 schools and 3 colleges have been declared "Tobacco Free School" and "Tobacco Free College" respectively.

Gariphema village of Kohima district has been declared "Tobacco Free Village" in 2014. State capital Kohima has also been declared "Smoke Free Kohima City" this year.

There was a total ban on sale of tobacco products in Kohima today in view of World No Tobacco Day as notified by the Deputy Commissioner.
