This Chinese restaurant is making Dimapur drool!

Morung Express Feature   Who imagined that a Chinese stick and fast food restaurant would create such a buzz in town?! Countless Instagram and Facebook photos are proof that this is currently the ‘it’ place to eat out in Dimapur. Funky Buddha 2 We saunter over to this place, only to find the place simply but elegantly done up. Keeping the Chinese theme in mind there are lanterns hanging outside the restaurant along with some wooden chairs, tables and umbrellas- a perfect spot to enjoy the cool, evening breeze while savoring the food.   The man behind this newly opened food joint is Tushar Shrestha. Questioning him on why he decided to launch a Chinese fast food restaurant, he said that eating out in Dimapur; he felt the need for a place that served good tasting Chinese fast food. So, he decided to open a restaurant at a corner in Duncan Basti, known to be an ideal place for college students and hostellers.   “I never expected the place to create such hype,” Tushar said when we met him at Funky Buddha. “In fact, I kept the prices very low mainly so that students and hostellers can frequent the place while enjoying good Chinese fast food. However, this I feel is also one of the key points attracting a lot of customers,” he said. Clearly loving the positive response from the people, he plans to keep changing the menu and also the quality of taste so that people will keep coming back to the place.   Tushar also acknowledges Funky Buddha Chef Deepak who has a lot of food experience, having worked in reputed hotels and restaurants. He adds, “I’m very lucky to have him cooking for my restaurant and together we are excited and looking forward to plan new and interesting menus.” He also mentioned that they use fresh ingredients every day and avoid using any kind of artificial food colourings. They also try to lay emphasis on good food presentation.   For a new restaurant, the service is a bit slow and Tushar readily admits that the servers are still undergoing training and he is looking to hire more staff. He points out that Funky Buddha visitors are very helpful and have even recommended and brought in people looking for work. Not surprising, because he is always ready to greet and meet his customers plus field any additional queries!   Funky Buddha will soon be serving open Barbecue and Grill, just outside the restaurant.
