Kohima, January 12 (MExN): The 49th games and sports meet of Chokri Area Games & Sports Association (CAGSA) concluded at Khulazu Basa under Phek district on January 12.
Khulazu Basa village defended its title for the third consecutive year in men's football. They defeated Chesezu village via tie-breaker 4-2 after the match ended in 2-2 draw.
Host team received Rs 100,000 along with the running trophy donated by Lt. Kronyi Kapuh. Retaining the trophy for consecutive three years, K Basa will take home the trophy permanently.
Dr. Veluo Shijo, additional director SIRD who graced the valedictory function as guest of honour, encouraged the youth to take sports as a profession.
He also gave away the awards to the winners during the closing ceremony.
10 units under Chokri Area took part in the sports meet. Thipuzu village was adjusted the group champion.
Cuvoto Medeo (K Bawu) and Veralu Kezo (Kikrüma) were adjudged as individual champion in men and women category respectively.
During the sports meet, new office bearers were elected for the tenure 2019-21 with Vekhayi Ruho as the new president and Vethizo Thira as general secretary.
