Altogether eight schools and institutions participated in the event, with about a hundred teachers, including pensioners attending the programme.

Padmashree Natwar Thakkar, Nagaland Gandhi Ashram who was the speaker for the event, opined that, perhaps, Chuchuyimlang Baptist Church was the first church to organize such a programme on Teachers’ Day, and hoped that the church would continue to set such example. He shared with the gathering on the importance of respecting one’s teachers, which he said is deeply imbedded in the Indian Culture. The Gandhian also challenged the gathering to strive for a harmonious and meaningful life while living on this earth, which was as important as striving for salvation in heaven.

Weku Zhiemie, EAC Chuchuyimlang Town delivered a short speech, where he re-iterated the important roles teachers play in building the society through their tireless efforts, and why we should give due acknowledgment to these often unsung heroes for their daily sacrifices.
