Church orgs pray for peaceful outcome to talks

The 25-member Nagaland Baptist Churches Council delegation led by its president and general secretary during their prayer meeting with the Chairman of NSCN (IM) Q Tuccu and other leaders on October 21.
 
 

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 22 (MExN): Several Church organizations have called for the Naga people to pray for a peaceful outcome from the Indo-Naga political talks. 

 


The Fellowship of Naga Baptist Association (FNBA) issued a press release appealing to “all the Christians in Naga areas to pray beginning from today until understanding arrives among all the sections of Naga   people at this crucial moment of our history.” General Secretary, FNBA, Rev H Gideon stated that this is not the time to panic nor to spread rumours but the time for the Nagas to spend time in prayer and “take the issues to God.”  

  


The Nagaland Joint Christian Forum also issued a statement calling for a statewide prayer on October 27, and fasting and prayer on November 2. (Read the full text here)


Meanwhile, it was informed today that a 25 member delegation of the Nagaland Baptist Churches Council (NBCC) led by its president Rev. Dr. Hukashe Zhimomi and general secretary Rev Dr. Zelhou Keyho called on the Chairman of NSCN (IM), Q. Tuccu and conducted a prayer meeting with NSCN (IM) leaders at the latter’s residence on October 21. 

 


The church leaders apprised the Chairman that unity amongst all groups was the need of the hour so that the final accord is signed. The NBCC further communicated that that it is praying for “wisdom, understanding and guidance” for the NSCN (IM). 

 


It affirmed that the church would continue to pray that unity and mutual understanding prevails among the leaders in particular and the Nagas in general.
