CIHSR begins subsidized dialysis services

Dimapur, August 4 (MExN): In view of the rising numbers of kidney disease in Nagaland and across the country, the Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR) today inaugurated four new Hemodialysis machines. The facility now has 7 machines in all.

The machines were donated by the Tanker Foundation of Thomas Cook with an agreement to ensure that CIHSR provides highly subsidized services to chronic kidney disease patients. This will reduce the cost of dialysis by more than half the current cost, stated a press release from the Institute.

The release mentioned that with the rising trend of diabetes mellitus in the state, the consequent kidney failure rate is also expected to increase. Hemodialysis is a very expensive treatment for kidney patients and therefore the new subsidized facility will be a great relief to the many patients who require this facility, it expressed.

CIHSR also inaugurated an EEG machine, which is used to detect patients with epilepsy and also helps in the monitoring of patients on treatment. It helps clinicians to more rationally treat patients with epilepsy. Several patients were earlier referred to Guwahati for this investigation, it added.

CIHSR also recently introduced its new website www.cihsr.in. The CIHSR video embedded in it was created by Jied Syiem and gives a picture of the various special features of the institute in contributing to health in Nagaland and the neighboring states.
