Clean Election Campaign: ABAM bikers rally concludes

Mokokchung, August 6 (MExN): The bikers rally organized by Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) Youth Ministry as part of the NBCC Clean Election Campaign culminated at Ungma Baptist Church on August 5. The rally from Mokokchung to Kohima began on August 4.

After an “eventful and productive” first day on August 4, the campaign continued on the second day rallying in and around the state capital Kohima with the slogans “We want Clean Election” and “We stand for Clean Election,” stated a press release from ABAM Executive Secretary. The team then headed to Botsa, Ao Baptist Church Wokha, Police Baptist Church Alichen, and finally arrived at Ungma, where the culmination programme was held.

Sensitization programme was held in all the above mentioned places with the speaker Rev. Dr. Mar Atsongchanger, Executive Secretary, ABAM, who is also the president of NBCC and NBCC Clean Election convener. He appealed to the public not to get involved in malpractices during election but sensibly vote for God fearing leaders as good Christians. He firmly opined that Clean Election is neither against nor in support of any political party, “but we want to have a prosperous future for the younger generation and that can only be attained through right and sensible voting.”

With a great deal of remorse, he stated that Nagaland’s present political imbroglio and developmental paralysis are “the result of our injustice involvement in election;” and therefore, “we make sure that we participate in the coming election with true Christian principles and for that cause we are here.”

He cautioned the people that today Christians are being victimized on many occasions and that the so called democracy seems to be disappearing in the country. “If the same trend continues, unprecedented egregious situation may strike our land and therefore we should not vote for the party which is against Christian faith,” Atsongchanger stated.

In the culmination programme, Rev. Noklen, Pastor, Ungma Baptist Church and the President of ABAM called on the general public for Clean Election. Thanking the bikers for their commitment, he urged them to continually uphold the dream for “with God all is possible.”   The release said that hundreds of people participated in the NBCC Clean Election signature campaign during the two days.

Toshi Sanglir, Secretary, ABAM Youth Ministry acclaimed LBES Youth Ministry for making the rally more appealing by joining ABAM in the campaign and assured to have more joint venture towards bringing peace and prosperity to Nagaland. “ABAM keeps the faith that every Christian in Nagaland will in all true Christian principles and disciplines participate in the coming election,” the release added.
