Clean Mokokchung Campaign educates masses on environment

The Clean Mokokchung Campaign, in yet one of its cleanliness campaign, distributed eco-friendly waste bins to nine schools in Mokokchung Town and one in Yaongyimsen. Several young volunteers from the group not only distributed the waste bins but also educated the students on keeping the surroundings clean and on how to beat plastic pollution.


To mark the World Environment Day and in relation to this year’s World environment day theme “Beating Plastic Pollution”, the Clean Mokokchung Campaign distributed eco-friendly waste bins made out of bamboo which was generously donated by well-wishers of Mokokchung Town.


The Clean Mokokchung Campaign comprises of concerned citizens of Mokokchung and it has successfully carried out cleanliness drives in Mokokchung town in past few months and hopes that their venture of distributing eco-friendly bamboo waste bins to schools in and around Mokokchung will continue in the near future.


“Awareness on cleanliness is not just a one day affair”, said Limaonen Imchen, co-ordinator of the cleanliness drives. He added “Our goal is to reach every school and college in Mokokchung and distribute the bamboo waste bins and also educate the masses on cleanliness and taking care of our environment.”


Limaonen expressed gratitude towards all members who donated the waste bins and also the volunteers for taking out their time to educate the students and encouraged the citizens of Mokokchung to be a part of the campaign and help keep Mokokchung Clean.
