The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) today called off the dharna after getting an assurance from the Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang on its charter of demands.
The students’ union is demanding alternative arrangement in disbursing the Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) of the ST students in Nagaland; setting up a separate cell/nodal department for implementing and initiating all scholarship schemes, to revoke the P&AR office memorandum of October 26, and opposition of August 11, 2016 P &AR (O.M vide NO. AR-5/ASSO/98).

Awomi briefing the students gathered at PHR junction after meeting the chief minister said the latter assured that it will release the remaining scholarship amount by December 19, 2017. The chief minister is also learnt to have agreed to take necessary steps to set up a separate cell/nodal department for implementing all the scholarship schemes.
Further the students union was also assured that proper arrangement would be made so that the students receive their scholarship within a particular month/season every year.
With regard to the revocation of 11th Aug. 2016 P/AR O.M. vide NO.AR-5/ASS0/98 and the 26th Oct. 2017 O.M. of P/AR, the chief minister agreed that it will be reviewed in the next cabinet meeting while ensuring that the demands of the students is delivered.
In the meantime, the ANCSU has cautioned legislator (s) and the cabinet to restrain from opposing to the genuine demands of the students. It also warned the government of retribution if it fails to comply with their demands.
