COCOMI members give Manipur govt's proposed meeting a miss

Leaders of Coordination Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) did not turn up to a meeting initiated by the state government of Manipur.

 

A source said that chief minister N Biren Singh invited COCOMI leaders for a talk on November 18 at 10:00 am. However, none of the representatives of COCOMI turned up even as the chief minister along with cabinet ministers and government officials waited for them till noon.

 

Sources said that the state government invited COCOMI for a meeting to deliberate on the demands of the COCOMI and its stand to boycott the upcoming Manipur Sangai Festival.

 

While reiterating its demands such as disclosure of the contents of the Naga peace talks and to convene a special session of the state Assembly to pass a fresh resolution for the protection of the territorial integrity of Manipur, the committee announced to boycott the upcoming Sangai Festival, the premier tourism festival of the state government.

 

COCOMI had also announced cutting off all communications with the state government.
