Committee prepares for Intensified Mission Indradhanush

Dimapur, September 26 (DIPR): In view of the Intensified Mission Indradhanush programme round 1 to be held from October 7 to 14, the District Task Force Committee meeting was held at DC's conference hall, Dimapur on September 26.  

District Programme Officer (UIP/RCH), Dr Lanuakum giving a PowerPoint presentation of the overview of Universal Immunization Programme stated that the UIP is one of the largest public health programmes in India targeting 30 million pregnant women, 26 million newborns annually. The targeted groups are being provided eight antigens namely, BCG, DPT, OPV, IPV, Hepatitis B, Tetanus and Hib containing pentavalent vaccine nationwide and measles-Rubella, Rotavirus, PCV & JE in selected states and districts.  

He said that the broad objective of Intensified Mission Indradhanush is to reach more than 90% full immunization coverage by December 2018 in identified districts and urban cities, enhance advocacy with key ministries and stakeholders towards full immunization coverage for each child. He further informed that the programme focuses specially on children up to 2 years of age and pregnant women who have missed out routine vaccination. However, vaccination on demand to children up to 5 years of age should not be denied, he added.  

Lanuakum also stated that the first round of IMI will be conducted for 7 days starting from October 7 excluding Sundays, holidays and RI days and the same programme will be followed for 3 consecutive months.  

Altogether 1580 children from 0-2 years of age, 398 pregnant women are being targeted for 2017 in 124 sessions at 55 IMI areas.  

During the meeting, the District Programme Officer asked all the members and stakeholders to help create awareness and mobilise the people for effective implementation of the programme.  

Project Officer, UNDP, Imli also gave a PowerPoint presentation on eVIN update. The meeting was chaired by SDO (C) Sadar, Zakabo V Rotokha.
