Common Platforms in Kohima Town held without consultation with candidate: NDPP

Kohima, February 23 (MExN): Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) of 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency has alleged that few Common Platforms organized recently in some localities under the constituency – at AG Colony on February 14, PWD Colony on February 15, Forest Colony on February 17, and Nagabazar Colony on February 20 – “had the distinction of being scheduled unilaterally, without necessary consultation and considering the availability of the two time MLA and current NDPP candidate of the 9th Assembly Constituency, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire.”

In a clarification note, the party said “some others localities had rightfully refused to organize, considering the unavailability of a candidate, without whom the event ceases to be a common platform.”

It further claimed that attempts were being made by “certain vested parties” to mislead the public/residents, alleging that the NDPP candidate Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire “does not care or have concern for their colony/ locality.” The NDPP refuted the allegation terming it “most unfortunate, false.”

It clarified, “Despite the lack of courtesy in unilaterally setting up the program and handing out the program, even without an invitation…, with due respect and courtesy, the Chief Agent of candidate Dr. Nicky had promptly responded in writing that the proposed Common Platform had reached very late and coincides with the candidate’s tight schedule of public meetings in the colonies, including the said localities and therefore conveyed apologies and requested their continued support.”

Therefore, the NDPP candidate, Dr. Nicky Kire and his team of supporters and well-wishers have appealed to one and all “not to be misled but to extend all support and co-operation for a better tomorrow, for the constituency and the state.”
