Cong open for alliances with secular parties

Kohima, February 11 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has stated that it is open to forming alliances with secular parties.

A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting of the NPCC’s Executive Committee on February 10, a statement from the NPCC’s Media Cell informed.

“INC will welcome any secular minded parties and leaders from forming a broad consensus to provide secular and stable government,” it stated.

“Congress has taken the decision to support secular political party candidates wherever INC is not contesting,” it added.

The decision, the Media Cell informed, was taken “to stop the tide of Hindutva forces in Nagaland”.

As such, the NPCC directed all rank and file of the Congress party to carry out the decisions “in letter and spirit”.

“The decision is aimed to stop BJP and its alliance partners from compromising the rights of our people and our way of life,” it maintained.
