Dear countrymen, as the festive mood drives us around and the whole world is busy preparing to celebrate the Birthday of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I on behalf of myself and the Council of Nagalim Churches would like to bring the joy of Christmas greetings to all the citizens of Nagalim. What a joy and privilege it is to commemorate once anew the Birthday of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Through His love and grace once again we are in this season.
As we prepare ourselves for Christmas, we are being challenged once again how we should commemorate it. Yes, God wants us to enjoy the Birthday of His only begotten Son, who brought the good tidings of great joy to all mankind.
But my dear fellow believers, how are we preparing physically and spiritually to commemorate our Saviour’s Birthday. Are we preparing to please our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ or preparing to please our flesh? How sad it is to see many people celebrate Christmas in eating, drinking and make party for physical enjoyment. In Roman 14:17 says, “For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Also we see in Ecclesiastes 12:8 says that such kind of celebration is’ ….vanity of vanities…”
Friends, let us retrospect our way of celebration and ponder the value, how costly it is the day to remember, love , respect and honor our Baby Jesus the King of kings and the Lord of lords who brought peace , joy and eternal life for us. Therefore, my dear beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, as we celebrate Christmas this year, let us pray and prepare our hearts to receive Christ into our lives. God in His love has given us His peace and joy, which human words cannot describe and explain of its wonder. No word is adequate to express or translate God’s love for us, and His redeeming work in Christ. The Good News that the Angels brought to the shepherds that night is for us today, God’s salvation is not only to the rich or educated but to everyone who believes in Him.
I am also sending this Good News to all the prisoners. Dear friends, human love may have limitation and the world may fail you. But God’s love never fails. Luke 4:18 talks about the proclamation of the Good News of “liberty to the captives, recovering of sight to the blinds, to set liberty to those who are oppressed, (and) to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”(ESV).
Dear citizens of Nagalim as we prepare ourselves to commemorate Christmas let us also forgive one another’s past mistakes and let us reconcile with each other and our Lord Jesus Christ to receive His blessing.
I want to say thank you to all the citizens of Nagalim and friends for your fervent prayer support through which our President Isak Chishi Swu’s health was recovered and could sign the Peace agreement. Yet, I humbly request you all once again to kindly continue to pray for his health as he has been admitted to hospital again for further treatment. Let us also pray for our chief negotiator Ato kiloser Th. Muivah, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and interlocutor R.N.Ravi for early political final solution.
I wish everyone a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year 2016.
Peace be in Nagalim.
